Nasty cold

We're experiencing our very first cold. Yuck....she's definitely not feeling herself today. Poor baby!! She's had a runny nose...clear though...all day...and a yucky congested cough. We're keeping a close eye on her. Tonight we did some Vicks Baby rub....so hopefully that will help her make it through the night. We've got another Easter egg hunt tomorrow at our church. Should be fun to meet some other parents in our church. Anywhoo...thought I'd share another cute picture of spring from our trip to the park from this past week :)

Happy 1st Birthday Eleanor!!

Well...we did it. We made it to the first year...without seriously injuring our child :) I can't believe how much my life changed a year ago today. She gave us quite a scare when she was born...but she's more than made up for that :) She is such an easygoing child...I thank God everyday for that!! We woke her up early this morning and sang "Happy Birthday" to her. I think she knows what we're saying...because she got all happy when we were singing. She opened up our gift and got a special breakfast of blueberry muffins. Nope...not green pancakes...maybe another day for that :)

We can't wait to see how much she changes over the next year. We've got a toddler on our hands now...watch out :)

1st Birthday Pictures :)

One more day with my baby

I can't believe Eleanor is turning one tomorrow. She won't be my "baby" anymore...she'll be a toddler. Oh how I miss the days when I could just scoop her up and squeeze her anytime I wanted. Now it's on her terms. She's very good about letting you know when she doesn't want to be held. Funny how early they learn their independence. I know it's all downhill from here in that department....just not sure I'm ready for that yet :)

As much as I miss those tiny baby days...I'm glad we are where we are right now. I'm not ready to go back to sleepless nights...and nursing every hour and a half :) I'm still nursing Eleanor...but at least we can go about 4-5 hours in between now :) Guess that answers your questions about if we'll be having another baby soon...hahaha. Not for a while...we're really enjoying watching her grow up. But I'll keep you posted on that :)

Birthday Party Was A Success!!

We had a great birthday party this past weekend!! Lots of people who love Eleanor that's for sure :) She got a ton of great gifts..and is pretty much set for summer clothes now! Thanks everyone!! She did so good...loved Mommy's punch...and didn't once have a birthday meltdown. When we sang to her she got the cutest smile and scrunched up her nose like she knew we were all singing to her. Couldn't have asked for a better day. I'll post pictures of her party when I get a chance. M also put together a video of her first year in review...so I'll post that too. Now for a relaxed, low key actual birthday on Wednesday. :)

As you may already know....

I'm sure most of you have already seen that Layla is finally at home in heaven. She passed away this morning...and I can't stop thinking about her and her family. My heart aches for them. I can't imagine losing a child so young. I've added a little badge on the side of my blog.....it's called flowers for Layla. Another mommy blogger Mandy came up with this idea, and I thought I'd share it with all of you. We're going to plant flowers for her and for all the kids whose lives are cut short by cancer and other devastating illnesses. I'm going to get mine before the weekend, but many people are doing it on Saturday. If the weather isn't nice where you are...you can always plant one inside :) I know it's not much...but I'm sure it'll make me smile when I see it...and remind me of several children I knew through my days of working on the pediatric oncology unit in KC. So...if you're up for it...join me in planting flowers for Layla.

T-11 days

We're on a countdown till her birthday party. Much to do yet. Need to get more supplies...and stuff for goodie bags. We're running out today to get plates/silverware...and I'm wanting to make a cute homemade "Happy Birthday" banner. I've been stalking etsy for ideas...and I think I found the perfect one. Now I just need to find time to make it...and finish everything else :)

Mom....I can now appreciate how much work you put into all of our birthday parties!! Thank you a million times over!! :) Love you!!

In Eleanor news...she's walking all over the place. It's amazing how quickly she learned and trusted in her abilities. We got her 1 year pictures done this past weekend....can't wait to get those and share them with you. They turned out SO great!! Ok...off to the store :)
